Your Scout Planet is mercury Mine would be cheiron. He involves all the planets and sees cheiron as a planet too.

Else it would be mercury for me too. A question for me too, according to an astrological rapport,my practical director would be mercury.

What does that mean and where can i find some information about it on the net? Find all posts by johan. Well, I know without a doubt that mine's the moon, since I'm a Balsamic child born on day 28 of the moon's cycle I admit though that the Sun was very close to being in a different position in my stellium, but I checked my natal chart and the moon would still be considered the first astrological body rising before the Sun.

This is a very interesting discussion At another forum bob marks AquariusMoon left some great links to info about this subject. I'll add those links here. More things to learn! Thanks for the article, Lapis!

I don't have Mercury as my guiding planet, but it was a still a very interesting read I have an Epimethean-Direct Mercury, by the way I was a bit surprised at the naming of these phases although, technically speaking, it should make a lot of sense. I know that Prometheus means forethought and Epimetheus means afterthought Though perhaps it is typical of a person with an Epimethean-Direct Mercury to think in such a matter But my guiding planet turned out to be Jupiter which happens to be the ruler of the DSC.

I don't know how to interpret this but it must mean something. Both Mercury and Jupiter are both directly and finally disposited by my Leo Sun. Too much info all of a sudden!

Lapis, Yes,i knew the site of Zane Stein thanks to this forum. But in the other links you provided i had the answer to my question Practical director is the guiding planet. It is the term this astrologer Meyer uses. Meyer uses the nine planets possible for guidingplanet and stein also uses cheiron with it.

I stumbled upon this thread again, and realized I never received a reply to my post a few months ago.

I guess what I'm really wanting to know is what does an "oriental" or "scout" planet do - what does it signify? Also, I would still like to know if I did mine properly. My chart is attached, if anyone would like to verify if I've properly identified my scout planet. Hi Freedomlover I think I looked at this a while ago, I posted something on it.

But it was a looong time ago. I think it was the planet that is closest behind the Sun. It's the first planet ahead of the Sun in a clockwise direction. I have never found it to be significant in astrology interpretation but it is a factor you can look at and see if it works. Hello This is a link for a website on guiding planets.

Last edited by Neptune Rising; at In ancient times, these "scout" planets were referred to as "Spear-bearers of the SUN'; older material regarding this subject are in Valens and, to a certain extent, in Paulus Alexandrianus see, for example, Greenbaum's "Late Classical Astrology I personally have never investigated this concept in a practical sense.

Dec, 29, also was born with Saturn as his scout planet, with Saturn and Mars both conjunct his Sun.

I'm tempted to write further on both "planetary heredity" as well as "planetary containment as these charts are textbook examples of each, however, I'll have to save this for another article or chapter should this become a book. Now, just when you thing you could'nt take this further, or stack up more coincidences, consider the following.

In , Martin Luther King Sr.

It was after this that he changed his name, and his son's name to Martin Luther King. Now for the interesting part!

Martin Luther November 10, also had Saturn as his scout planet.

The Planet ahead of your Sun—and What It Says about You

What are the chances? A mathematical genius she is often referred to as the inventor and first computer programmer. Neptune in this position is seen in the charts of Mystics, Musicians, Poets, as well as drug addicts, con-artists, and dreamers. Kirk Cobain February 20, is probably one of the classic example of this placement, with his Neptune not only his scout planet, but also part of a very complex chart pattern, just as complex as he was.

I've found that those with Neptune as a scout planet often have a certain "mystique" about them that intriges people. If other chart factors support it, like in the case of Cobain. Pluto gives an intensity, and a penetrating will in many of the individuals with this planet as their scout planet. Helena Petrovna Blavatsky epitomizes this placement.

Those with Chiron in this position these individuals often are the mavericks that set out to discover new paths in their life. As such, they are often pioneers by necessity in their field, motivated by an internal urge to discover their uniqueness, and why they are different.

This quest end of being the very thing that they become an expert in, and their contribution to the world! One of my favorite original astrology writers wrote There is an acute awareness of the woundedness around them, which leads to the urge to heal, or teach, or guide, or lead the way towards self-sufficiency.

How to Find the Oriental Planet

There is a maverick quality to the way the person handles day to day efforts. Rather, a person goes his own way, at his own speed, never concerned that others may be moving faster or slower, or going in a different direction.

To quote Thoreau, 'If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. As a career indicator, Chiron's "wounded healer" archetype is often seen as an important component of what the individual with Chiron as a Scout planet offers.

Many of my clients with this are healers, teachers and their work is often based on their own path of healing and self-discovery. The bottom line with this position, is self discovering and the inner journey is a crucial part of the expression of self.

The greater the "wound" that acts as the catalyst for the quest for healing and self-realization, the deeper the search and thee more profound the conquest expression of the wisdom gained as part of their life purpose. Humanistic astrology holds that there are no "good" or "bad" planets, signs or astrological aspects. Everything, and every astrological planet, has its appropriate place and purpose.

The Planet of Oriental Appearance is the first planet to rise immediately before the Sun. In your natal horoscope, it symbolizes your special skills and faculties, and your inner guiding voice.

But conditions pervading in our schools, offices and factories, and the conforming pressures of society, usually conspire to force us to into predetermined molds, with little regard for our special faculties and talents, unless they happen to be useful in the business world.

In a less abstract and more practical way, each of us have a stock of innate special talents and skills which we may develop and exploit in life, or which may lie largely dormant or latent, flashing forth at moments of great need, crisis or inspiration.

Most of us have a knack for something. One person may have a knack for getting along with people and self-promotion, another a special gift for teaching, counseling and helping others, and yet another may have a creative talent which is best expressed working alone in her studio or at the keyboard of her computer.
